Our Story at Matter of Craft
Three Soccer Dads
We are three dads in Huntington Beach, California, who used to see each other every weekend at our young daughters' soccer games. While attending these games and getting to know each other, we quickly discovered our shared passion for craft beer and food pairing. Back in those days, you could catch us enjoying a cold brew or three on the sidelines, cleverly disguised in travel coffee mugs (sorry, coaches!). Jim, the ringleader of our new trio of beer enthusiasts, often brought unique brews for us to try, leading to impromptu tasting sessions! Our daughters, who sparked this craft beer journey, are all in their early 20s now and are proud members of the Matter of Craft Team!
Something Was Missing
Between cheering for our girls' soccer team and discussing the new craft beers we were sampling, our conversations led us to ask: "Where can we find an epic selection of craft beer in coastal OC, especially when it comes to craft beer and food pairing?" Sure, our home city of Huntington Beach boasts some of the best craft breweries in SoCal, but we were craving something a little different… A place with a fun, casual beach vibe that appeals to both locals and visitors, an ever-changing selection of the finest Huntington Beach craft beer, and delicious food that would perfectly complement those beers! When we realized the ideal spot we envisioned didn’t exist, we decided to create it ourselves at Matter of Craft!
Matter of Craft is Born . . .
It took lots of research and development… And we mean LOTS! From envisioning what Matter of Craft should look like, to deciding how it should feel, where it should be located, and even what we should call it… that was just the beginning! We gathered our many ideas, took a leap of faith, and Matter of Craft was born! At the end of the day, we're just three soccer dads who love craft beer, great food, our families, and the SoCal vibe.
