3 Soccer Dads
We are three dads in Huntington Beach, California who used to see each other every weekend at our young daughters' soccer games. While attending games and getting to know each other, we realized that we all shared an affinity for craft beer. Back in those days, you could find us enjoying a cold brew or three on the sidelines at those games cleverly disguised in a travel coffee mug (sorry, coaches!). Jim, the ring leader of the newly formed trio of beer geeks, frequently brought brews we’d never tried before and a tasting session always ensued! Our girls, who were the catalyst for this craft beer adventure, are all in their early 20’s now, and are all part of the Matter of Craft Team!
Something was missing
Between cheering for our girls’ soccer team and opining about the new craft beers we were sampling, the conversations eventually led to us to ask… “Where do we find an epic selection of great craft beer in coastal OC, and how great would it be if that place had great food, too?!” Sure, our home city of Huntington Beach (and Orange County) have some of the best craft breweries in SoCal, but we wanted something a little different. We wanted a place with a great, laid back beach vibe, an ever-changing selection of beers from ALL the great breweries, and delish food that would pair perfectly with them! When we realized that place we were imagining didn’t exist, we set out to create it ourselves!
Matter of Craft is Born . . .
It took lots of research and development… And we mean LOTS! From coming up with what the place should look like; how it should feel; where it should be; and what we should call it…. And that was just the start! We pulled our many ideas together, took a leap of faith, and Matter of Craft was born! At the end of the day, we're just three soccer dads who love craft beer, great food, our families, and the SoCal vibe. If you do too, come enjoy a great craft beer from our amazing selection!
